Hot Plate Cycle
HOT PLATE WELDING
The hot plate welding technology is based on heating directly the parts to be assembled by contact with the heating plate which is coated with non-stick Teflon. During the cycle the surfaces will be put in contact with the heating element and afterwards between themselves with a variable pressure force. Plastic material, in contact with the heating plate, melts and softens on the inferior part. This fact is very important, as the material will be compacted during the cooling phase, that means when the parts will be pressed one against the other, so creating tight welding with optimum mechanical resistances. The hot plate welding technology is used for the automotive industry (i.e. for the assembly of head-lights) and the household appliance (i.e. for the assembly of receivers). The contact surfaces have to be carefully designed in order to create welding-joints.
